There is no significant swelling at the metatarsal area. Elected not to replace splint and to move p to eagle mew for continued recovery. D/c all meds. Monitor appetite as p had not eaten reliably when fed in mew previously. Monitor for any uneven weight bearing or lameness.

Observed when placed in eagle mew. Is using R foot/leg well, with no discernable lameness. Hopping from low perch to ground with ease, transferring weight evenly.

Power (joules): 20
Time: 1:20
Location: Right and left Carpus

Notes: Wounds were noticed over both the left and right carpometacarpal joint regions. It is presumed these happened due to hitting this region on the cage walls. The wounds were roughly 1cm in diameter and had dark colored debris that needed to be cleaned first around them using tweezers and saline. Once debrided, the wounds appeared inflamed, but did not appear to be in communication with the joint space. The right lesion had a minimal amount of caseous material within it, so we started TMS 50mg/kg PO BID. The left wound was similar in size and description; however, it did not present with any caseous material. Skin around both wounds were normal in appearance with a 1cm margin around the wounds that is featherless due to debriding. The wounds were cleaned with dilute Betadine solution and TAO was applied. Bandages/bumpers were placed on both carpal regions and will be replaced on 7/22/24.
